NOTICE OF CDBG PUBLIC HEARING FOR DISASTER RECOVERY INFRASTRUCTURE

The City of Cottondale is applying for Rebuild Florida General Infrastructure Repair Program funding in the amount of two million three hundred ninety-four thousand six hundred forty-two dollars ($2,394,642.00) provided by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to assist the State of Florida in recovering from the effects of Hurricane Michael 2018 Storm Event. This funding will be administered by the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity (DEO) thru the Rebuild Florida Infrastructure Program and can only be used for selected activities that are directly related to the disaster or for disaster mitigation. Activities that are typically eligible for funding under the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program are eligible projects if no other funding is available to meet the need. Applications are due in DEO no later than Friday, September 17, 2021.

The City of Cottondale intends to submit two applications which will replace and rehabilitate sanitary sewer lines, manholes, and lift stations to address storm water Inflow and Infiltration into the City’s Sanitary Sewer system. Additionally, the projects will install new generators at the same lift stations The City anticipates submitting applications for the following facilities:

A public hearing to provide citizens an opportunity to comment on the application will be held on Monday, August 9, 2021, at 6:00 p.m. or as soon thereafter as possible at the City of Cottondale City Hall Meeting Room, located at 2659 Front Street, Cottondale, Florida. 

A draft copy of the application will be available for review at the Cottondale City Hall at that time and will remain available until it is replaced with the final copy of the application submitted to DEO.  A final copy of the application will be made available at City of Cottondale City Hall, Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. no more than five (5) working days after September 17, 2021.   The application will be submitted to DEO on or before the application due date of September 17, 2021.  To obtain additional information concerning the application and the public hearing, contact Ms. Theresa Brannen, City Clerk, City of Cottondale, 2659 Front Street, Cottondale, Florida, 32431.  Telephone (850) 352-4361.
