Here’s to Celebrating Cottondale
Much is going on in the way of grant funding. The City will strive to keep you updated on the progress as we move forward with each grant project. We have two grants to share about today, the Hometown Revitalization Project and the CW-SRF Grant.
Hometown Revitalization Project
The Hometown Revitalization Grant is now underway. The City Clerk and other personnel along with Commissioner Brian Braxton (by phone) met with Julie Dennis of Ovid Solutions and Vance Coley of DHM Engineering on Monday, February 14th to discuss next steps over lunch. The biggest thing to keep in mind is that this grant will take approximately 3 years to complete.
The first step is receiving the grant agreement from DEO (Department of Economic Opportunity), which will be very soon. Second, is starting a long environmental review, which Ovid Solutions will oversee. Then, DHM Engineering will move forward with property appraisals. These steps will take several months.
The Hometown Revitalization Project will pour 1.69 million dollars into Cottondale. It may seem like a slow process but will be well worth the wait. Celebrate with us this grand opportunity.

CW-SRF Grant
The Florida Rural Water Association is expected to be sending us a grant agreement in the next two weeks. This $980,838.47 funding will achieve much needed sewer plant upgrades, along with lift station control panels, lift station makeover on Magnolia Street, and a waste pump for the #1 plant.
With every dollar spent Cottondale becomes a better place to live.
